Shop in Black“This was my first time purchasing with Helm + Oar (I think I found them through Instagram) and I could not be more impressed. Between the status updates while you're waiting for it to ship, the care that was put into the shipping and how it was packaged, and the quality of the print, frame, hanging supplies, and instructions - I will definitely be a repeat customer. Could not recommend more.”

The artist
Meet Britt van der Meijden, fashion photographer on film
Britt van der Meijden is a Dutch fashion photographer. Her work moves between fashion, beauty and editorial stories, and it has appeared on magazine covers and billboards.
She works mainly with analogue cameras. The slower process of film gives her pictures a timeless, intimate feel.
She says she grew up with a camera in her hands, and that small things, shot the right way, can tell a great story. Films inspire her too, especially the work of director Paolo Sorrentino.

The places
From the Alps to the Pacific coast of Mexico
Britt travels often. These are the places her camera brought home.

Wonderland: the story behind the photograph
In St. Moritz, vintage racing cars wait on the snow. Red curves and racing stripes glow against dark pines and a sharp white peak.
It is speed at rest, a bold old machine meeting the stillness of the mountains. That is the moment Britt van der Meijden caught, and it is our most loved piece of hers.
People choose it for what it stirs: a love of craft, a taste for adventure, and the thrill of the open road in winter.
