The artists
Meet Wesley and Emma Teague
Wesley and Emma Teague are two southern-born photographers who live in Birmingham, Alabama. They met in a Spanish class and bonded over a shared love of photography and travel.
Three weeks after their wedding, they moved to Spain. That adventure inspired them to expand into travel photography, and they have been telling stories with a camera since 2009.
They like to observe a place in an uninterrupted, natural way, and they photograph with curiosity and wonder. A retailer that carries their work describes the result as a balance of rich tones and quiet vignettes.

The places
Quiet places, photographed with curiosity
Wesley and Emma photograph hospitality, travel and culture. These four places show the calmer side of that range.

Orange Beach, Alabama
Sunlit dunes, sea oats and seabirds on the Alabama shore. Seven photographs in our collection were made at Orange Beach, including Beyond The Dunes.

Seville, Spain
Spain is where Wesley and Emma were inspired to expand into travel photography. Feria shows riders in Andalusian dress at the Feria de Abril.

Joshua Tree, California
Wide desert horizons in Joshua Tree, California. On The Move Joshua Tree and Los Tres were both made here.

Big Sur, California
McWay Falls and Highway One Drive come from Big Sur: a waterfall that meets the shore, and a bridge in the fog.

Morning Palm: the story behind the photograph
In Carmel, California, a single palm stands against a pale, clear sky. There is nothing else in the frame. Golden light falls on it, and the whole picture is calm.
It is the kind of photograph that makes a room quieter. One large piece, hung with space around it, gives the eye somewhere to rest.
People rarely choose it for the palm. They choose it for what it gives back: a calmer evening, an edited room, space to breathe. A wall can hold one thing that matters.

Calm wall art for the living room, and beyond
Soft light, open skies and plenty of space. These photographs let a room breathe.

Over the sofa
Choose one large piece instead of several small ones. A single photograph, sized to about two-thirds of the sofa, calms the whole wall.
Above a console
Let one print do the work. Leave the space around it empty, and a sideboard, a vase and a lamp become the whole composition.
In the bedroom
Hang a wide, pale landscape above the bed. Soft sand and sky tones are easy to wake up to.
