The artist

Meet Derek Aldana, photographer and adventurer

Derek Aldana is a Texas native who now calls Salt Lake City home. He is a professional photographer with years behind the camera.

His love of exploring began the moment he crossed the state line. Since then he has crossed deserts, hiked through forests and dived into clear lakes. The outdoors is where he finds calm and inspiration.

Movement runs through all of it. His photographs freeze a single moment and still carry the thrill of the ride.

The moment

Snowdrift: the story behind the photograph

A red Porsche 911 climbs a snow-covered mountain road. Skis are strapped to the roof, fresh powder flies from the tires, and the evergreens are heavy with snow.

It feels like the first run of the season, the drive up before anyone else is awake. Derek caught the car in motion and kept every flake of it.

People choose it for a living room, an office or a mountain home. It is winter at its most fun, in one bright flash of red.

At home

Western and car wall art for the living room, and beyond

Bold, warm and full of motion, these photographs bring energy to a room.

In the living room

Snowdrift is a wide piece. Hang it above a console or sofa, about two-thirds of its width, and let the red do the work.

In an office or den

A Western piece like Hurry Home suits leather, wood and warm light.

On a gallery wall

Pair the black and white riders, like I Love Us and Never Settle. The open space repeats, so the wall feels calm.
