The artist
Meet Genesys Barile, photographer and explorer
Genesys Barile was born in New York City and raised in Spain and Germany. Her family moved to a new country every few years, and she speaks English, Spanish and German.
She now lives in Los Angeles and travels the West Coast as a photographer and videographer. She is an avid hiker, a road-tripper and a beginner surfer.
Her motto is Never Stop Exploring. Through her work and her channel, @globetrotter_gen, she hopes to inspire others to live a life full of the outdoors.
The moment
Foam Party: the story behind the photograph
In San Diego, waves arrive one after another in soft lines of white. The horizon almost disappears into the haze, and a few surfers wait far out.
It is the sea at its most patient, full of movement and somehow still. That is what Genesys Barile caught, and it is our most loved piece of hers.
